IMDB Script No Longer Works

I have suddenly run into an error that refuses to go away. Each time I try to run a script, I get one or both of the following messages:

"A call to an OS function failed"
"Cannot make a visible window modal"

Thereafter, if I try to delete the movie information for which the script was run, that 'delete' function hangs. The catalog doesn't even let me enter the original title of the movie--the field remains blank though the catalog registers the keyboard strokes--manually (all the other fields except 'original title' accept manually typed data). I have to use the task manager to close the catalog.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the catalog but the issue persists.

Now I can use the catalog only if I create a new entry manually all the way through. If I use a script, any script, one of the two failures posted above appears and the entry becomes a fixed dead entry in the catalog in the sense that I cannot even delete that entry (and it imports information only in the URL and 'Comments' field. I use the IMDB script and all the other fields remain blank.

At this point, 'end task' in task manager is the only option that works.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Same here (along with other errors), I think is because the new imdb layout is messing things up.

I am glad to discover that I am not the only one. I guess we need a new version of the IMDB script then.

The script incorrectly parsed the page and created an entry with a really too long value in one of the fields I suppose.
You saved your catalog with that corrupted entry?
You can try to make a new catalog and import the old one in it, excluding the "dead" entries, but I'm not sure it would work.

Antoine, thank you very much for saving my catalogue; the catalogue is a work of twenty years and has 7000 titles and I can't imagine losing all this work without the possibility of retrieval. Your suggestion to import the titles, excluding the corrupt ones, worked like a charm.

However, the main problem remains: each time I search a title on IMDB, the search works fine, but the information import window then imports only the URL and the comments:



Thereafter it gets worse. If I save this information, then the title field goes blank and I cannot even manually type anything in that field. This particular entry then becomes impossible to delete. And thereafter none of the scripts work correctly: all the scripts begin generating the problem created by the IMDB script.

Your suggestion has saved my catalogue, thank you very much. I hope the problem created by the IMDB script can be resolved soon because it has rendered the catalogue unusable. I have no choice but to make entries manually in every single field if I want to add new titles to the catalogue.

My catalog has over 17000 entries, imagine losing that.

You shoud make backups of that catalog ;-)
