Mediaman import help

Post by Kalynuik »

Mediaman has gone shareware and I use or should I say used both Mediaman and Ant, but I know theres lots of folks out there now going to discover Ant because of Mediaman's move to shareware, so my question is whats the easiest way to import mediaman db's to Ant, I tried csv just to see but the Ant just hung up and thats just exporting Title to a csv file nothing else.

Any ideas may help people in the future.

Thank-you

I figured out the basic import, I had to load the title only csv file into a test editor, delete all tabs, delete all ,'s and then saved as a standard text file, then I clicked import in Ant and the clicked the header bar and assigned Original Title the clicked ok.

It should be possible to do a direct conversion. Could you send me an example of such CSV file, si I can improve this in next AMC version? (few lines are enough)

This file is strange, the tab separators seems to be wrongly placed (the number of columns does not correspond to headers) and there are line breaks inside some lines.

Unfortunately it will not be easy to convert them propertly I guess :/

And I'll not be able to make a direct importation:
What's the format of MediaMan Collection File? Can I have it?

MediaMan Collection File is a private binary file format developed by myself. It's by no means known by a second person, nor am I planning on opening it to the public.

Yes I noticed that as well, just to impot the titles alone, nothing else exported I had to load the csv into NoteTab Standard (I use this all the time for text) and I had to find and replace ^T (Tabs) and eliminate triple commas ,,, then saved as a regular text file named .csv then it imported.

Good thing I was willing to update all manually in Ant otherwise the conversion alone of the original csv file would have made me an old man.

Anyways good-luck and thank-you

Maybe you could try to open the CSV file in Excel, clean it, and then re-save it and import it in AMC to get more fields.
