You know, after all these years and hundreds of TV shows, I never even noticed. I've now looked back at shows from 2000 and sure enough, no director etc. My apologies, I'd never noticed that before and thought it was a fault. I just added another film and that worked fine.
It's no bother to ...

Re: how to check for a file existence
Oh I see. What I might try would be firstly ensure portable AMC is in the same overall folder as the films, and the films etc would be in their own sub-folder, inside the main folder. Drag and drop the file onto the interface of AMC. You will notice that the file path appears in the File Path ...

Re: how to check for a file existence
I have only ever used AMC in a portable way for all the years I've had it. However I don't understand your question or what you wish to achieve. If you wish to use it portably, just download the portable version from the website?

Not all information being downloaded?
I just downloaded the info for the 2024 series Landman. I noticed that's the second show I downloaded info for today that had no directors info, no producer or writer info, and no date. Is there a problem with the script or is there no info for download in those categories?

My catalog is just saved as catalog
Very well, your problem seems to be resolved. :grinking: :)
Will you tell me if your catalog is a file "xyz.amc" and images are contained within it?
Where did you changed the .jpg name? in a field of the catalog? in folder? in both of them?
I'm really ...

Re: How to use contents of a field in filenames
Your catalog is saved as xml? Pictures are in a separate folder?
please extract some titles from your catalog, save them in a next catalog and send it to me (with related images), so that I can well understand and resolve your questions.

Re: How to use contents of a field in filenames
Yeah so in the 'Original Title' field the films name appears when you import. The date appears in the 'date' field. I would love the film title to be in the format 'title and year'. So for example, "Great film (2024)". But I can't figure out how to get the year to appear in parentheses after ...

Re: Exporting files to a .CSV file.
You can try to disable the "use natural sort" option that I mentioned in another thread.
It is supposed to sort numbers more like Windows does, but it does not seem to always work.
And your second list looks like a basic text sort, so AMC would normally do the same without the natural sort option ...

Re: How to use contents of a field in filenames
All it ever says to me is "Error in statement at line 2" which is 'program AppendYear;'antp wrote: 2024-09-18 07:19:07 What is the problem with the script exactly?
You to go Tools -> Scripting, click the "Editor" tab and then the "new" icon (white paper sheet) and paste the script there.

Re: Exporting files to a .CSV file.
No that's a different thing and that's all sorted now thanks to Python and ChatGPT. But it can take hours to sort out the sorting when AMC's export is so different to a list of directory from Windows.fulvio53s03 wrote: 2024-09-17 01:38:09 Maybe this question is related to your other Post about adding Year to filenames?![]()

Exporting files to a .CSV file.
When I export a list of files in my catalog to a csv file, they are organised differently to a windows file list of the same files in a folder.
I can't upload an image on here so I will try to show. The first column is directly from AMC's export function. The second column was generated in DOS ...

Re: How to use contents of a field in filenames
I am really struggling here. Is the script editor the one you access from the folder full of internet scripts? I tried making a new file and input the details you gave me but no matter how I juggle it it just keeps saying there is a script editor.

Re: File name formatting
No there are some proper anomalies. I don't understand either why they come up wrong. But the errors are there and I have to correct them all which is taking multiple hours. I'm going to try a few different ways of organising them and se which is the most accurate.

I've had dozens of those file inconsistencies the last few hours. I shall try where you said in preferences, and see if it helps. I still have many thousands to do so there's no shortage of testing haha

File name formatting
If you export a list of items from AMC, it does not order them in the same way as Explorer does.
So if for instance you export movie names and dates from a file, you can't apply them to files as they are out of order. Like Fear II will come before Fear I in Explorer. Very bizarre, but true.

How to use contents of a field in filenames
I have about 6500 entries in AMC. They're all films and all have the year the film was released in the field named 'Year'. What I would like to do is include that date into the filename.
So, 'Batteries not included.mp4' in the original title, would become 'Batteries not included (1987).mp4'.

Ignore that. I rebooted after updating scripts and all is fine.
