Unable to load file

I've been using version 3.5.1.2 for long time with no problems.
Installed version 4.1.2.3 and couldn't open .amc file.
Error messege : Unable to load file "C:\Arquivo.amc". cannot identify file tipe from header.
Uninstalled 4.1.2.3 and reinstalled 3.5.1.2 but I got the same error message.
Please help. I've got hundreds of movies on that catalog.

You should have a .bak file in the same folder as the .amc file: you can try to rename that file to give it a .amc extension and open it. It is a copy of the file before the last file.

You had the problem right after upgrading to version 4.x ? Or were you able to open the catalog at least once in the new version?

Thank you for your answer.
I renamed .bak to .amc and still can't open it. Same error message.
I had the problem right after upgrading to version 4.x and was not able to open the file, not even once .

How big is the file?
If it is not too big for sending by internet you could try to send it to me.

This is really strange.
I don't think your problem comes from AMC 3.5.1 or 4.1.2.
Maybe a problem on your hard drive or a problem during copy ?
If file is to big to send, can you open your catalog with notepad++ for example and copy paste the beginning of the file for a first analyse.
You should see something like :
" AMC_3.5 Ant Movie Catalog 3.5.x www.buypin.com www.antp.be " ...
or
" AMC_4.1 Ant Movie Catalog 4.1.x antp/soulsnake www.antp.be " ...

Now I'm using 3.5x version.
I can open the sample.amc file, in the instalation folder with MovieCatalog.exe.

Using notepad++
This is the first line on sample.amc:

AMC_3.5 Ant Movie Catalog 3.5.x www.buypin.com www.antp.be ’ P Ï ˆ ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ Matrix,

and this is the first line on my .amc catalog (created with AMC 3.5x):

AMC_4.1 Ant Movie Catalog 4.1.x antp/soulsnake www.antp.be fw533:fh449 V ÿÿÿÿÛ ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ

I tried to change the first line in my .amc catalog to the first line of 3.5 version but it didn't work.

If your catalog starts with " AMC_4.1 Ant Movie Catalog 4.1.x antp/soulsnake www.antp.be ", this means you saved the catalog with AMC 4.1.0 or more at least one time. You can not open it with AMC 3.5 but it should open with AMC 4.1. But you say you have an error when you want to open it with AMC 4.1 ?
This is really strange...

Please try again with AMC 4.1.2.3.
If your catalog doesn't open with the same error, please upload it on a server like the link given by antp or depositfiles.
After that, give me the link. I will analyse your file and try to find what is the problem and if I can restore your catalog.

The first time I downloaded 4x version was from Softonic, and I had that problem.
This time I did it from your page (ant.be) and it works perfectly.
I bilieve there must be a problem with Softonic installer.

Softonic is a crappy site anyway: they bundle other programs in their installer to add adware/spyware.
I really recomment to avoid that site.
