[REQ] [UK] IMDB features request list

Post by rs232 »

You can find below my wish list for the IMDB script:

When running in batch mode I get plenty of false positive, so not an option for my DB, but when run it manually (one by one) the script behave in two different ways:

a) The movie is automatically identified (no question asked other than "Save - Save all - skip - abort"

b) I'm provided with a list of option I can manually select, before being asked again "Save - Save all - skip - abort"

Feature requests:

1) semi-assisted batch mode. Can we have a semi-assisted batch mode that does not ask anything at all unless we run into case b)? That means: try to run a query automatically and if (and only if) a unique record can not be automatically detected... ask me.

2) search by field: original or translated or (very important!) by URL field. I'm doing this oalready but i have to modify the script manually. Having an option would be nice.

3) ask for alternative title only if b) happens. having an option so that IMDB asks me an alternative title if and only if case b) as per above. As it is at the moment a search field is asked before any search even if a single unique record is then found and we end up in a)

4) When a unique record is found don't ask to save. Just do it. Case a)

5) Ask to re-run the script. When we get into b) and we get at the stage where we can choose:"Save - Save all - skip - abort", how about adding an option to re-run the script (asking for the title) on the very same record. Useful when in batch mode because it won't break the batch.

6) date sensitive. The IMDB search doesn't seem to be sensitive to dates e.g. titanic or titanic 1997 produce the same result. Can we (in an attempt to produce as many case a) as possible) filter the multiple option provided using the year field (if any) coming from the DB record? An filter tolerance option of +/- N YEARS would also be needed.

Thanks a lot
:)
