Hello,
4 years use your program, thanks for your work. Today the first time has faced a problem: from for instability of system as a whole, hung the computer (Windows 7/Asus M3N-HT Deluxe/8GB RAM/AMD Phenom 9850) at present I have only Video.amc, Video.bak too old, it has appeared 2 months are more senior. Actual Video.amc it has appeared in (c:\Users\All\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86) \AMC\Catalogs \).
Problem: Video.amc it is not read, progressbar at opening of a file of 100 % the window is not closed also the program hangs.
Question: exists what or alternative means for opening or database restoration.
Thanks.
P. S. Was in holiday has spent 2 weeks for cataloguing... It is a pity a downtime.
Damaged file Video.amc
Unfortunately not. You could try this:bux wrote:Question: exists what or alternative means for opening or database restoration.
1. Try to import movie file instead of open it as a catalog (->File ->Import). As far as I remember it uses the same routines, but it's always worth a try..
2. Install a clean version of Ant Movie Catalog. If you did not read or save when the computer crashed, it is unlikely that the catalog file on hdd should be damaged. Some time ago someone sent me a catalog of few hundred MB size that he could not open, and after downloading it worked nicely on my PC. A new installation of AMC was the solution there.
3. If these didn't help you could try to repair the catalog manually. It depends on the catalog file, if this is possible (e.g. replacing catalog headers, deleting few movies etc.). You might send me a copy of your catalog if it's not too big (max 5MB zipped) and I will check that, for bigger catalogs you might need to find a place where you can upload it (eventually split into pieces using winrar). But it might need some days until I find time for this.
For mail address or if you want to link to your catalog, contact me via PM.
