Quotes in movie overview changing from " to "

Post by whatisk »

I am using AMC and saving my catalog in XML format so that the MyFilms MediaPortal plugin can use the data.

I am finding that when I add new movies to the database, download the details for the movie using the IMDB script and then save the catalog, when I next open it, all the movies except for the new ones have lost the quotes surrounding the tag line in the movie description.

EG: prior to saving it might have been "A great movie" This movie is about something.
Once I add a new movie, download the data and save the database, when I next open it, it will instead be "A great movie" This movie is about something.

Currently I am manually going through and doing a search and replace to fix this. I was wondering if anyone knows why this may be happening and what a fix could be. As I said, this only happens to movies that were previously in the database. The newly added ones are fine.

I am using the latest IMDB script that the script updater finds and AMC 3.5.0.2.

Thanks.

I did not use XML format before, so I saved my database to XML, closed and reopened it, added a new film via IMDB 3.19, saved the database, closed program and reopened XML file.. I did this several times, but no problems here (AMC 3.5.0.2).

If only films are affected that have been in the database before, it should not be a scripting problem.

Maybe you could save a copy of your database to .amc format, and test if it shows same behaviour. What happens if you use other scripts ?

A bug related to non-decoded &quot characters from XML documents was fixed in the latest version 3.5.1 (rc4, see 1st topic in comments section), this will maybe solve your problem.

I am having the same issue with Ant 3.5.0.2.

When I save my XML, quotes (") are turning into (") forcing it to show up as (") instead of (").

I can do a find-and-replace with a text editor to change (") to (") but next save they will all be replaced to (") again.

Is there something I am doing wrong or is this a bug? :/

Did you try in version 3.5.1, since a bug related to that was fixed, as I said above?

I redownloaded 3.5.0.2 and installed over the top and seems okay now.
I will also download 3.5.1 and try that if it reappears again.

Thanks.

Even though I was sure I had the latest version (and when I went into help, version it shows 3.5.0.2), the file I downloaded was slightly larger (by about 70kb).

When I installed that, all the versions reported were the same, but the initial test I did with some new movies didn't have the problem happen again.

I will keep an eye on it and if it happens again, try the beta version.

If you are talking about the installation file (amc_install.exe) or the archive (amc_full.rar) there might be differences in file size to your previous download, because of added/updated scripts and language files - programs' version 3.5.0.2 has not been changed in this case, as this was not a programs' update, just an update of the installation file.

The size of the executable (MovieCatalog.exe) should always be the same for version 3.5.0.2 - as far as I know ;)
