I've been using the excellent Ant Movie Catalog for three years without problem.
But I am now getting the "Timeout" message when trying to download the movie details from I.M.D.B. using the script. It connects, starts to download, and then timeout... sometimes saving a useful amount of information, other times not, and the amount varies.
I have had no problems with my internet connection.
I have the latest version, and have tried installing an older one that worked - no luck.
Can't find anything in the configuration that might be relevant.
I would be grateful for any help on this. My backup is to put it all in manually each time.
"Timeout" error - when using script with I.M.D.B.
I found a partial workaround for this problem - "read timeout." It is this: instead of putting in the exact movie title, add another word that causes i.m.d.b. to create a longer list of possible film titles in reply. For example, instead of putting in "Touching the Void," put in "Touching the Void other". In the first instance, i.m.d.b. is likely to go directly to the movie file, start downloading, and then you get "read timeout" before practically any data has come down. In the second instance, i.m.d.b. comes up with a list of possibilities among which is Touching the Void, which you then correctly choose. For some reason, the download goes on a lot longer and nearly finishes, or does finish, leaving minimal information to complete. I don't pretend to understand it, but it works.
