Some suggestions :
1. Allow to specify multiple subtitles and not just one, many DVD and Divx has this feature.
2. Allow Right-to-Left layout for Hebrew & Arabic , all fields names should be on the right and the field itself is to the left of the name.
3. Allow the catalog to be opened by multiple machines, the database is stored on one computer where it is Read/Write , the other machines have Readonly permission except change the borrower name (but not specify when the movie is returned - this can be done only on the main machine)
4. Expand to specify software and games titles in order to manage all kind of collections.
I'll be happy to get your views...
thanks

Thanks for posting, you are the first one
1. I plan to add a better way to specify multiple languages/subtitles/countries/etc..., but for the moment the only sulition is something like "english/french/dutch".
2. I do not know how to do that easily, and I am not sure that right-to-left text is well supported in Delphi. I do not know how I can test that easily.
3. It is impossible without making a client/server application I think. It is maybe something a little too specific...
4. I plan to do that, it will probably in version 4, but now before several months.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply!
I would like to compliment you on a job well done!
thanks!
some more thoughts :
1. When are the new script to import english descriptions of titles will be availiable ?
2. Can you search for images and description in more than one place online ? some times the dvd image is too small, other times the original desription on the DVD cover is alot better, the IMDB details are probably great as well is the ratings.
3. Can you get a thumbnail pictures of actors and put them side by side on screen acording to the title's cast ? this would allow the cast to "come alive" immediatly...
thanks...

1. When I'll have time, or when somebody else would make them. For somebody that knows how to pogram in Pascal it is not difficult, but it takes time and I do not have so many free time.
2. Same than (1) I guess
3. I will probably add an actor management later, and I guess that if I do that I'll also add pictures for them, but I do not know yet how I'll manage that.

well... as for (3)...
I think actor managment is too much, no one needs it...
what you can do is take images of actors at a fixed size from IMDB or somewhere else... , when a movie title is displayed, all you need to do is to lookup the top 5 actors on the actors list and put the images insted of the names side-by-side.
what do you think?

What I call actor management is to be able e.g. to see the list of the actors of the whole catalog, see in which movie an actor has played, etc...
It will be easier to add actor pictures when there will be this.
What I will also add is the possibility to have more than on picture for a movie.
So you can put few pictures from the movie itself, not only the cover of the movie.
For the search, it would be too heavy to make this kind of thing. Just search "lord of the rings" and it will work fine

when someone search for "the ...."
you automaticly do two searches :
1. "the ..."
2. "..." (ommit the first "the")
1. "the ..."
2. "..." (ommit the first "the")
The title details is damaging the look & feel since it looks like an outdate entry form.
I think that visualy-wise, you should stick with this entry form for entering new data , but for displaying the info when browsing you should create a rich text (nicer/bigger fonts and images/color). you might want to use the internet browser for that...
...it might make your job easier to embed actors pics...
just my 2 cents...
Hope to hear your comments

You are right, it would look very nice
I plan to add that (something like the "moviecards" of Divx Manager) but there is one problem : if I use IE page, it requires that IE4+ is installed, which is not always the case on NT4 systems.
I'll maybe set this as an option, so the program remains usable on a PC that does not have IE installed. Or simply find another HTML viewer.

Re: More...
I will add that, I forgot to put it in the current version.moshem wrote:When browsing the titles list and pressing a letter , go to the first title with this letter , can be very usefull...
Hi,
thanks for your kind responses...
As for the IE4, I think your solution is good.
just make sure that it won't delay the browsing too much, if it is pretty but slow - it's not worth it.
BTW, you can create it using HTML and allow users to customize that HTML in order to create custom "Movie cards"
You should also encourage people to share Skins, Templates, Scripts etc.. maybe create a place for that in the forums (Is there allready ?....)
Front & Back covers (from DVDEmpire, Amazon etc.) is very welcome, also pics of actors and snapshots from the movies (like in amazon). I would add a feature to automaticly resize images that exceed a certin size (bicubic resize), this would be helpful since many images are just too big.
10x for your great software.
