Are there some people interested in a linux/kde version of AMC ?
I plan on writting such an app for kde (using c++/qt) and would like to know if the author of AMC would mind if I get inspired of AMC ? (I used to use amc under windows but I'm not going to use windows anymore)
I would not port amc code, but use its good ideas. I'd like to make it compatible with amc (import/export).
What would you like or not ?
If you have any suggestions : gaboo ( at ) gaboo ( dot ) org
Thanks !

Merci !

Since the program is under GPL licence, there is no problem.
I guess that you will make it opensource too ?
It would be nice to simply indicate in the About Box that it is inspired from AMC, and eventually put a link to it, but that's not an obligation You do what you want.
If you need help for using the same file format that AMC (or use your own format but make an import/export of AMC format), I can help you.
When it is done, I could add in AMC a possibility to import/export to your format.
What would be really nice for users is that the script format is the same (using AMC 3.5 format rather than 3.4.3), but this will maybe not so easy to make on linux if you have to rewrite the script engine (unless you can compile IFPS under linux using Kylix ?)
A project using Python and Qt started long time ago :

but it seems to be stoppped.

Indeed, it will be opensource. You will also have all the credit it requires
I had a look at Xamc project but as it seems dead now and as it is written in python, I'll start a new project. Moreover, one of my primary goal is to learn, so I prefer writting it from scratch.
I'm glad you're willing to help ! I think I will use a new format, but as I said, I'd like to implement amc import/explort tools.
I will also use your scripting format.
For two reasons : because I won't have to write such scriptsand because I won't have to maintain my own scripts.

Well, there are some good catalogs for Linux, but not a single one support importing from webs using scripts (some can import ONLY from IMDB, amazon, and so..). Then a program like AMC for Linux would be very appreciated.
AMC works without problems with wine, so I am still using it and that import feature will be very apreciated.
Scripting language for 3.5 is already defined? Good to know there is still "some" development.

Yes. It is quite similar to previous versions, the only thing that really changed is the "header" of the files.RedDwarf wrote: Scripting language for 3.5 is already defined?
There is this program that uses the same file format than AMC 3.3/3.4, but not the same scripts:
https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/lmc/
no :)
No, it's not my port.
Mine is started but very slow for now as my job keeps my very busy.
Glad to see lmc. Dunno if I should join lmc or continue my 'flavour'.
The fact is that I'm not a python guy and I have several ideas : I don't want to make an exact copy of amc under linux.
Anyway, I'm doing it for fun & learning and I won't release something until I have a well working version (if I get one somedays ).
EDIT : Moreover, I'm doing a KDE version, not only a linux version. This means some integration with the desktop.

Hello,
Yes, there is a Gtk2 software. It is not related to AMC, but it has a plugin to import data from AMC in it. Its name is GCfilms. Project page is here:
https://gna.org/projects/gcfilms/
I hope it didn't look too much as an advertising
