Hi,
It seems that since some days, all IMDb scripts are really slow and return huge title lists (hundreds titles) full of unaccurate results. For exemple : I've made a search for "X-men" , even trying with "X-men (2000)" (it sometimes improves results), but in both cases I have a huge list (as said, hundreds titles) in which the popular Brian Singer's "X-men" doesn't even seem to appear. Among them : "Tecno geist 2000", "The world comedy tour: Melbourne 2001", "Mystery science theater 3000" and so on... sigh.
I have this problems with most titles I put. As with "Nightwatch" with Ewan McGregor : I had to search with the year in the title to get the right movie, otherwise I had to scroll again hundreds titles. And getting "E.T." was quite a sport too.
I think I can remember those scripts were far more selective days or weeks ago, what happened ? Am I the only one to have this problem ? How can it be resolved ?
I have a suggestion that could be part of the solution : Is there a way that the search is based on the URL rather than the original title ? It would be soooo easier to retrieve the movies datas by this mean, you would only have to browse IMDb and then copy+paste the wed adress onto AMC, and voilà !
very unselective IMDb scripts
I guess that you use the script provided with the program. The one that made this version used the full title results.
You can use this script viewtopic.php?t=1735 with the option "popular search" at its default value: it will show you a small list, and a "more" button if you eventually want the full list.
It also allows to paste the URL instead of typing the title.
