Catalog slow in saving

Just recently when I save an entry I find that the catalogue can take 5 times longer to save than normal. I've done nothing different to the program or the computer, and it does not ruin my life, but it is odd that how suddenly the save slows down.
I currently have 5,176 entries in the catalog which I would not think to be an excessive amount?

The number of entries is not really the problem, but the size of the catalog file may be.
In your case, perhaps some (or all) movie have large pictures embedded in the catalog rather than being stored as separate files.
You can change that via Tools -> Manage Pictures.
Be sure to make a backup copy of your catalog file or catalog folder just in case.

I have no idea why but this righted itself eventually.
I do indeed have photos for every film in the catalog, but the entire program folder is still under 1 gig. My computer hasn't changed so must have just been a glitch of some kind.

Well 1 GB is already a lot, even half of that takes some time to read/write depending on which hardware you have

TBH now it's sorted it's fast as anything. I have no idea why it slowed down it lasted for some weeks. Now it takes 2 seconds to load so all is good
