I discovered the PNG format a few months ago, I now use it as much as I can although I don't take advantage of all its features yet (ie I don't use the alpha channels sinc it's not supported by IE). I hope IE will support this feature as well as MNG in its next release.
I actually don't know of any good edition program for PNG and/or MNG so if someone who uses this format can give the link to a good freeware (never used GIMP b4, is it good for PNG?), I'd appreciate.
I use Paint Shop Pro which works quite well for PNG, but it is not freeware (I have a licence from my office).
There is Pixia which is freeware and nice, but I do not know if it works well with PNG.
