How to delete entries in the media type drop down box

Post by boristhecat »

I have many entries in the media type drop down box, but some are redundant. Is it possible to delete those entries somehow?

It depends how it is configured.
In Tools -> Preferences -> Drop-down lists you can find options related to that.
If the lists contains values taken from your catalog entries, the cleaning has to be done in the catalog entries (e.g. if two movies have very similar values, one with a space at the end and one without).
If it uses a pre-defined list (that may be automatically filled with new values), then you can edit it from that Preferences window.

The values are simply values that I added manually over time. but although I can add them by simply typing them into the drop down box, I don't seem able to delete them the same way?

No, you can't remove them from the list directly; such basic drop-down lists are not designed for that, and as I said it also depends how it is filled (i.e. which option option is used for the list), you have to use one of the ways indicated in my previous message.

I can't use your options as the values are not taken from catalog entries, and neither is it automatically filled.
It's not the end of the world though I can live with the redundant ones being there I was just trying to house keep really.

:??:
If they are not taken from the catalog they are from a pre-defined list that is editable via the Preferences
I don't see from where else they would be taken
