Meltdown in W-10, required reloading AMC getting error msg

Post by russjohnson »

I downloaded AMC 4.1.2.3 which worked before but now I can't load any of my saved catalogs. The error msg I'm getting is,
(Big white X inside red circle) Unable to load file "C:\Users\......\Desktop\Ant Movie Catalog\Home Movie Log.amc": Cannot identify file type from header." Hope someone has already solved this and can help me get back on track. Thanks.

Are you sure that you weren't using a newer version (4.2.something) ?
As you get that error message in two cases:
- trying to open a catalog with an older version than the version used last time
- damaged file
In the second case, you may try to rename the .bak file to another name with a .amc extension.

I rechecked version. It is 4.1.2.3 - I renamed the bak file ext to amc but still get the same error msg. Not sure what to do. Maybe I should try downloading an older version? How would I do that?

Rather try downloading a newer version, current stable version is 4.2.0.2 (and it is not so recent, it is already 2 years old)

You were right. I didn't have the most current version. Just downloaded and now everything seems to be working well. Thanks÷
