how to add multiple movies populating fields from filename

Post by yaya »

Hi all,

I'm a noob trying to evaluate this program, but searching the forum I couldn't find how to do the following:

Is it possible to add my movies and to automatically populate the proper fields with the info from the filename?

My filenames' structure is "Director - Title - Year - Subs.EXT"
I also have an image file with exactly the same name for each movie and external subtitle files.
Let's assume that all files are in one folder.

Thanks in advance for a reply.

There are a lot of things that can be done in File -> Import -> Media files, that may be useful in your case.

I did notice the "try to assign fields" option, but it did not help in my case. I can't see something else.

What I'm asking is if there is some regex expression that might be useful with "Filter the file name".

Also I can find no info on how to edit the columns that appear after I press "Scan folder"

To edit the columns, just click on the (empty) headers, a menu appears for selecting the field to link to the column.

I can't help with the regex, that whole media file import function was added by soulsnake, I'm not sure how to use all the features ;)
