import_images no longer works with update *.amc file

Hi, Ant Movie is one of my most used programs and I love it. I've had no problems with it except recently when I tried to combine all my movie cover images with my main .amc database as I do every once in a while to clean up the clutter.

The import_images.exe converter no longer recognizes the AMC database. When I try to convert it I get the error... "Unable to load file "***.amc": Cannot identify file type from header."

While this is not a major problem, it would be wonderful to have this feature working again. I have tried every workaround I could think of within reason (I don't want to update more than 60-70 movies by going back to a previous version and a backup of my database).

It should be re-compiled with the files from latest AMC version.
Maybe soulsnake can easily do that, or else I'll try to do that in the next days.

Hi,

You can import all linked pictures into your catalog using "Pictures Manager" tool in AMC :
Tools > Manage pictures... > Select first option "Store picture into catalog" and all movies and pictures to include > OK

WARNING : If you want to keep a copy of your catalog with external links, make a save before because you can not cancel this operation on the current/opened catalog.

Thank you antp and soulsnake for the fast replies. I will follow soulsnake's advice and use the Picture Manager. Funny I never knew about this feature, I've always used the import_images and it worked so flawlessly that I never thought to look for a built-in feature.

Hi Soulsnake,

It worked perfectly. As a matter of fact, its much easier than using the import_images plugin which generated a new file that had to be copied back into the working folder.

The Picture Manager also deleted the cover images after embedding them in the main AMC file making my work that much easier.

If the built-in feature works fine (or better) it is maybe not useful that I keep that tool on the site then...

Your call antp. I found the built-in feature to be more efficient. I just didn't know it existed. I've been using the plugin since the beginning and had found no reason to look elsewhere.

IMDB no longer provides hi-res covers so I download them separately and change them in the program window manually. They tend to get piled up with the main AMC file.

With the plugin I used to recompile the database in another folder and then delete everything from the main folder and then bring the new AMC file in.

With the built-in option, I just click the button, the main AMC file is updated without moving it and the image files are automatically deleted. So its a single button operation.
