Adding multiple movies.. (batch additon?)

Post by lunaticprophet »

I've searched for this but have found nothing.

I seem to remember that at one time...

I could press "add a new movie" button,
...fill in the search field in the "IMDB Import" window,
...select the movie from the "movie selection" window,
... the movie would be imported and ...

I Would Be Returned to the "IMDB Import" window so that I could immediately type & search for a new movie.

This was essentially batch additions.

I'm positive that at one time this was available.. but I've not been able to do this for a number of years.. which was ok, since I rarely have had to add, many, movies these days.

There is an option to open the script window when adding a movie, and an option to also run the last used script when the window is open, but the "add movie" action has always been manual.
What you describe may be adding a lot of blank movie, and then run the script on all these blank movie, importing info for them one by one without exiting from the script window.

Something more about batch addition...

1. Steps as reminder:
a) open AMC
b) File > Import > Media Files
c) add "Source folder" (folder that contains all movies)
d) press "Scan folder"
- AMC will scan folder and add films
e) Movie > Get information > From Internet using script
- choose your script, like IMDb
f) uncheck "Show results window" in Execution options
g) double click "Batch Mode" in Script Options and choose options 1
h) press RUN and wait for AMC to finish its job :)

Now I have one question: how to force AMC to use only folder names, and not names of files? This is the problem: for exapmle I have a folder with correct film name (let's say: My New Film 2012), and file name is incorrect (eg: my.N.film.2012.dvd.mkv).

ANTP told me to do this:
one of the columns in the media files import is the folder name: you can simply assign that column to the movie title
(just remove the original title field from the one it assigns automatically first)
I have no idea how to do that :??:

Can someone explain that quoted part :)

After scan, you can see movies to import in the preview list.
On column header of this list, you can see assigned fields to a column.
By defaut, the field original title is assigned to the column containing filename.
You can change the assigment of the field original title to another column, in your case to column containing folder name (2 columns after the column containing filename).
To do this, first click on column header with original title and click on "Do not import this field". After click on column containing folder name and select field original title ;).

Thank you, that's it! :grinking:

Not very "user friendly", but it works :)
