Pocket AMC Reader for Android 2.3.2 available [29.9.2020]

Hi,

SetFieldOrCustomField is a procedure declared in file SoulSnakeUtils.pas

In AMC 4.1.1, SoulSnakeUtils.pas in included by default in script folder that why the script works on this version.
But you can download this file on the same place where you found the script RemoveBadChars and add it in script folder.

This way, the script should work in AMC 4.1.0 too.

I am just waiting for quite a while for an app which can do a 2way sync. Explaining:
I catalog movies on PC.
Export XML and view catalog on Android Phone
Watch movie and update comments / ratings / anything on movie details on Android phone.
Sync this new stuff BACK into PC Catalog. (I understand that THIS part is still not available, am I correct?)

Any workaround to achieve this?

Hi, I'm glad you like the app. However it was from the very beginning meant only as a reader and I intend to keep it that way.

Two-way sync would be a nice feature indeed, but the app is not ready for that as:
- I don't import all the data from catalog (that being custom fields). Therefore I'm unable to recreate catalog without loosing some information.
- I use internally different encoding so if you would input some data (accented and special letter) it might get lost in the process of converting there and back.

Also syncing catalog back and forth by copying XML isn't the best solution. And that is essentially one-way sync anyway Two way sync would require also some work on the official application and my app is merely unofficial mod.

Since you know your app inside out, I am hoping you could suggest something.

I dont mind if I have to manually update my PC later. Its just that I dont want to remember which movies I updated on the phone. Can the phone app generate some report on which movies I updated?

Well, some time ago I was thinking about making some sort of custom list where I could add movies I've seen when away from computer and then I would update catalog on PC manually. I'm thinking I could make that list after all and perhaps with some note for a movie.

So basically you would go into movie details and then you could add a note. Later you could update catalog on PC according to notes which would be displayed on cumulative page. Would that be something you would be interested in?

Of course, this followed by ability to generate some list on the phone so that we can update the PC.

I have plans to add custom fields from AMC, however I believe your are talking about different custom fields. For now I will start just with simple list and we'll see later

I do like your app. I have a transformer prime TF201 and wether it was the update to jellybean or your update, it now scrolls very smooth. I have 9000+ entry's the keep things on track. A small remark: If I use a picture where the width exceeds 1400p and i have have my device in portait then it doesn't show in the details section. If then turn my device AMC Reader stops. But since i resize pictures anyway it doesn't really matter to me. Keep up the good work.

Hi recumbo. I believe it was my update, since it was specifically designed to make scrolling smoother on very large lists. Now less info you display in the list, faster it goes. So should you come into any problems with list try reducing number of elements displayed.

I believe I tried much larger images than you report - approx 2800p and everything worked fine. But I will try again if I'll find the problem, I'll fix it.

Anyway, I'm glad you like the app and thanks for the confirmation that update actually works on such large list

just installed it on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, awesome, can`t get the pics to show but i`ve just noticed that the folder on my pc with the xml file has also got the list of thumbnails with it, i only put the xml file on the Tablet, should i put the thumbnails on as well ?

Hi,

yes, you need to copy pictures as well. XML only contains text information about movies.

Just the updated XML and new pics. I personally keep database on PC in XML format and then use "Synchronize directories" feature in Total Commander. Elman

Hi,
i use AMC on PC, exporting catalog like XML to my GoogleDisk directory, which I can open with Pocket AMC reader on ANDROID.

BUT: there shows error importing your catalog and recommends to use RemoveBadCHars script.
But when I use it on PC, it says error ( Unit is not find on: line 3 ) (there is FieldsUtils )

Can you help me pls ?

Hi zvirek,

The RemoveBadChars script need AMC version 4.1.0 at least and the FieldsUtils.pas file in order to work.
You can find this file here : http://update.antp.be/amc/scripts/
You have to put this file in the AMC scripts directory.
The script should work after that.

Bad luck, it didnt help. I upgraded to latest version, downloaded files you recomanded, but still same result.
I use SAVE AS *.XML to save my database ( because *.AMC cannot be seen by android program ).

How do I recognize, that script RemoveBadCHars works ? I just run the script it asks to save, or save all, I use save all, confirm and the script ends. Should it work in this way ? I expected longer working while changing so many Movies ( I have cca 1000 Movies in database ).

This script removes chars (in all fields) that are not printable and so give an invalid XML.
This can happen in old AMC versions when you import data from Internet by a script.
You have to run the script on all movies to be sure to remove all bad chars.
After you run the script, save your catalog and try with this one.
It should work.

Hmm, I dont know if doing well. I tested also with just 1 movie in the list. So I open AMC, select movies , open scripting, select RemoveBadCharacters script and click SCRIPT. Than table with previsous value and new value appears ( seems to be the same to me ). I click SAVE all and after cca 5 seconds ( have 4core CPU ) srcipt closes. Then I just save ( i tried also export ) file as XML.
but in android Pocket AMC Reader I got still same problem - saying Error importing your catalog, usually problem with non standard characters....

Pls help.
( or do you know another program for android to be able watch my AMC database - and of course not something so strange like Excel, I mean movie catalog ).
