There is not really a guide for beginners. In fact, there is a small one, but in French here.
The language used is "pascal innerfuse", very lightweight version of pascal / delphi. you can find links about Pascal and Delphi in the link above.
But the best thing is to analyze an existing script and try to understand how it works.
You can find help on the different functions and procedures in the help file of AMC (Press F1 -> then scripting section).
And if you have more specific questions, there is a topic about programming issues.
