Better usability with AMC

Post by elman »

Hi,

for me usability of AMC was decreased with the introduction of custom fields. There is a lot more movement with mouse and more sub-menus. For example:

- Grouping in toolbar now has 1st level menu with None, Movie Fields and Custom Fields. 2nd level menu contains specific fields. Why not return Movie Fields back to 1st level menu. It would be easier and faster accessible. You could have None, all default fields and them group custom fields. Same goes for grid fields selection and sorting.

- Another thing is color tagging on right click. Why push color tags to 3rd level menu? It's awful lot of cursor movement and it's a bit frustrating with notebook pads. Just have under Selected movies Check, Uncheck and all color tags. Same goes for Select.

- Also keyboard shortcut for show or hide picture would be nice.

- And last thing. Since we have so many possibilities to view catalog (picture on/off, grid, thumbs, html, stretch list), it would be nice to be able to create presets with all these settings. Basically I use 2 settings and it's quite annoying to do all the clicking when changing settings all the time.

Hope any of this would be helpful for someone else as well.

Hi,
I agree for the submenus, I was planning on mentioning that to soulsnake but I forgot, so that's good to bring it back :D
It is not useful to have so many levels, especially when the 2nd level only contains 2 or 3 items.
