Exporting details from AMC to CVS spreadsheet

Post by moviemom35 »

Hi... I am a nebbie to Ant Catalog and love it however I now want to export my movie list to a CVS excel.....so that I can import it onto my new laptop. I have the list, I have the CVS excel spreadsheet but dont know how to get the list into the spreadsheet. As well, once the list is in the cvs spreadsheet do I just import as the CVS into the new Ant movie software....

I know I am missing something here and hope someone can give me hand!

Thanks so much

Hi,
At which step do you encounter a problem?
In AMC you go to File -> Export, select CSV/Text, then you can adjust parameters and the file generated should be usable by Excel.
In the same way, if you save to CSV with Excel, in AMC's File -> Import menu you can find what is needed to properly import a CSV document.
(but why do you need to do that AMC->Excel->AMC process?)

Thanks for the reply.. since writing I was able to get data into the CVS and save it in spreadsheet. When taking it to my new laptop I imported the CVS to AMC and it seemed to look great in the download pane but when I pressed ok it said that there was trouble with headers and it didn't translate to that computer. I then realized I could just take the whole AMC file save it and upload to the new computer. This worked, kind of, I got all the Original titles. I cannot use the Get Information for some reason. It just keeps saying...cannot find movie, or it comes up with no searches. I have decided that the list itself will have to do. I can always decide, at a much later date, to start from the beginning again.
Thanks for your time in replying ... really appreciate your help!

When importing CSV you either have to define what column is what (by clicking on column headers) or have the first row containing the field names so AMC can match the columns automatically.

To transfer the catalog you just have to copy the .amc file, no need to export/import :??:

If the "Get Info" does not work, it may be due to outdated scripts (run "update scripts" to get latest versions)
