HTML Template for Pocket PC listings

Post by sracer »

Hello all,
I've been a huge fan of AMC for a few years. It is by far head-and-shoulders above the other cataloging applications available. One thing that people have been clamoring for is a way to display their DVD collections on their Pocket PC.

DVD Profiler has something in the works, DVDaf has some online URL thing to generate a list, but none of them provide an easy way to manage a collection on a desktop PC and send it to the PPC. Somebody wrote their own PPC tool to read DVD Profiler info, but it is kludgy and costs $10.

I took the existing template2 html templates and modified them for better formatting on the PPC screen. Here are the results:

unpack it into the C:\Program Files\Ant Movie Catalog\Templates folder. Then take the AMC-logo.gif and place it in the folder where you will be exporting your collection to.

Keep in mind that once you are in the HTML Export dialog, you have to click on "full" and select the full template, then click on "individual" and load the individual template.

I will be tweaking it further over the coming weeks. But I'm extremely delighted with how easy it was to set up and how useful it already is.

OK, first I have to say this was awesome.
I first made an export file for my samsung sch-i730 pocketpc phone,, I did not have a data plan from my cell provider, so when I opened the file it worked great.
I recently upgraded my phone to the samsung sch- i760, I now have a internet data plan,, I opened the file and it went to the first full template,, but when I tried to tap a particular title it did not go over the other page like it did on my other phone, the page with the movie details?
any suggestions?

also,, it did not export with the prefix"THE" moved to the end of the title like I set my prefferences to in my catalog, so all the movies that started with "The" were listed in the " T" alpabet order??

For having the titles displayed like in the program, you should replace $$FIELD_ORIGINALTITLE by $$FIELD_FORMATTEDTITLE

Only phones that use a Windows Mobile OS, can use this template correct? Or any phones that can open html pages?

I think it works on any HTML browser, but I haven't tested it.
