Feature Request - Groups!

Post by esant »

I'm new to this program but so far I think it's quite good, even excellent. I've evaluated Extreme Movie Manager and DVD Profiler and was very turned off by all the bloat. AMC is nice and small and does the job for me.

There is one feature, however, which I think will take it to a new level. It's actually pretty easy - groups. I have documentaries, some comedy movies, some TV series, etc.. I think it would be very convenient if I could create Groups for whatever I wanted. That way, the catalog is sorted according to whatever Groups I create. I know I can "group by genre" or by other criteria, but that's limited to the genre's specified on the site's I download from (IMDB, etc.) Of course I can edit those genres/categories, but that wouldn't be as convenient as drag-and-drop a highlighted selection into a Group header. It would also be convenient if movies could be created from within a group, altogether eliminating the need to manually categorize it.

I've actually been wanting to catalog my collection for a long time now but I have never done so because I've always been very dissatisfied with the shareware programs I've found. So I'd be willing to help support this project to see this feature.

Thanks!

One of the purposes of the "media label" field is that. So you can put the group name in that field and then group on it.
Of course it is not as easy as doing drag & drop to organize groups :D
