Export/Import from one AMC to another

Post by scottdw »

I have a master AMC database of all of my movies. I have another AMC Database on a different computer that only has the movies that are on that computer. When I add movies to that computer I want to just be able to select the movies in my master DB and export them so I can import them into the other computers DB.
I have all of the info in the mast DB's copy so I don't want to have to run the scripts again for the IMDB info and covers. I see that you can import from and AMC file but you cannot export just selected items. I have tried the other export options but it seems to me to be easier just to be able to export select DB entries and then just import that whole file to the other computer.

Can this be done???

Thanks,
Scott

It is not possible to easily export few selected movies (one of the numerous things that I should add).
If each time you need to export only a reduced number of movies, you can open two AMC windows, in the second one create a blank catalog with few blank movies, and use the "copy" and "paste" icons (or commands from "Movie" menu) to copy the info from one catalog to another. With that it copies all the movie info, including cover.
Other solution is copy whole catalog and then import only wanted movies...

I added enhanced export functions that allow export of partial catalogs for XML and SGC file formats to Sisimizi Game Catalog, but as I wanted extra options for pictures, it needs changes on some other unit, too (not sure what it was about). Export now even handles catalogs with internal/external pictures mixed up correctly (at least I hope so). I'll adapt changes for AMC and send them to antp, maybe it's an option for future program updates (I forgot to do that some time ago :D).

Didn't you already send me that? Or you just mentioned that change?
Anyway it is not very difficult to make the change, I should add that to AMC as well ;)

I only mentioned it and forgot about sending it later, as there were some bugs on picture export on my first version (SGC to XML, if there were internal and external pictures in one catalog) ;)
