Problems with .csv-export: IMDb-rating (PPC)

Post by MartialTopper »

Hello!
I'm using this fine prog for more than 3 years. It's really fantastic!!
Now, I've a problem with the .csv-Export.

Using a PPC, I have found the following solution to get my movie-list on it:
-export to .csv (Excel)
-from Excel I use the plugin "MobiPocket Office Companion Pro 2.1"(costs about §20)
-now I have a Mobipocket-File (really great data-research!) with my mobipocket-reader on PPC!!

The Problem:
The IMDb-rating is in excel shown like a date... (e.g. Rating: 6.4 -> "6th of april" or "06.04.2008").

I've already changed the locations/regions in the Excel-date several times, but it's still not shown correctly.

I would be glad to get answers. Indeed I know, this is a typical Excel-question, but maybe somebody has a solution...

..and indeed I know: my english seems to be very funny...

For Germany (as you have a .de e-mail :D) locale settings I guess that Excel expects a comma instead of a dot for a numerical value.
AMC forces a dot for that, so maybe you would have to set a dot as decimal separator in locale settings.
It is an error from myself to force that, I guess. Maybe I should add an option in AMC's export settings to let the user chose the decimal separator (or at least an option to force or not the use of the dot)

I don't use Excel, but isn't that problem on Excel import from CSV file only ? Shouldn't it be possible to change the format of this column (within Excel) from date format to another numerical value format then ? So the rating numbers should not be transformed into dates, I guess. You should check column's and Excel preferences for cell or date format settings, or maybe some kind of "auto fill in" for cells, if 6.4 becomes 06.04.2008.
