Black Images on printing report

Post by naturick »

Hello, everything ok with this fantastic program. But.... when I print a report (one included in the list or one created by my self) They are many covers printed black. I tried also with virtual printing (PDF Creator) and the result was the same.... any suggestion?

Hi,
Maybe you could try to set the PDF printer as default printer, or edit the report to set that printer as default for the report, as it seems that it remembers which printer was the default one at report design time.

Black Images...

I'll try to better explain what I mean.

I want to print the list of my collection. I select print, I choose a model on the template list, I print. The result is ok but some images (only images) will be printed completely black. Random.

This appen even if I print with my two printers (Brother, XEROX) or if I print virtually with PDF creator.

Some image (random) will be printed black. I have a pdf file to attach if you want to see it let me know naturick(at)yahoo.com

The same images of the same film, if I print just one or two cover at time, will be printed good.

right?

I understood you well, but as I said in some cases this may depend on which printer is the default one in Windows, or even which one is defined as default in the report options, no matter which printer is effectively used for printing.
Other people had similar problems.
This is strange, but unfortunately I cannot do much about that since the printing engine is not done by me: it is just a tool that I integrated in Ant Movie Catalog.

Hi,

I saw this post today for the first time, sorry. But I have the same problem. I allways use my Brother HL-1250 and this is the windows default printer. Sometimes images are completely black. After restarting AMC, the print of the same images is ok.

It is funny.

I might be wrong, but does this problem only affect users that have a laser printer as default printer on report options ? If so, the problem might be caused by cover pictures that are too large - not especially the picture that will be printed black, but some or all of the pictures that should be printed on the same page together. Laser printers need to receive and process the complete page to start printing, and large pictures will be processed with full size, even if they appear resized on the page (similar to HTML resized by width/height). And a 500kb picture might need some MB when being processed by a laser printer..

Suggestion: Try setting an inkjet printer as default printer on your report. Or try to disable "Printer - Select when report is loaded" for laser printers. To do that choose a report, then start Designer -> File -> Report options.

But it's just an idea ;)
