Crashs

Post by funky »

Hi there first let me say that I like AMC very much.

I imported my 400 movies via a .CSV file fine.
Now I use the ODBF script to gather additional informations. For that I use selections of 50movies. Already 150movies are up to date but now after a while AMC freezes and my Windows gets unusable

I have Windows XP SP2 and the newest AMC.
Can anybody help?

Do you have a nVidia video card? If so you may try to disable the "nView Desktop" feature in advanced display drivers. Or update video drivers.

Yes I have an nVidia and use the Desktop app because I've got a multiscreen system. There is no new driver. I have a GeForce4 which is legacy :/

Can you explain why it crashs?

No, I just noticed that this happens on several PCs, and all had nView activated (disabling it solved the bug).
I could never reproduce that bug on my PC, though that I had the same video card, same driver, same motherboard and same CPU as someone who had the problem...
Is that nView Desktop feature really useful for multiscreen? (what does this feature do actually?)

It enables you to send applications to a specific screen and so on. Realy nice.
I try to fix this by adding a special default rule to the nVidia manager.

Just another idea.. does it only happen when AMC runs on secondary display and/or does it still happen when you remove the secondary display from the computer (with nView still active)?

As antp might know, there was another, different bugs with AMC and secondary displays, maybe there's a connection somehow and the problem occurs only if secondary display is connected.. that perhaps could explain why it could not be reproduced on another system (without secondary display) and why only a small number of users are affected ?!? But it's just an idea..
