I do not know if there are plugins made to use Movie Cat XML file, but being XML I guess that it may still work, even if new fields would then be ignored.

Just an END USER who needs more HELP

antp,

If the Developers of these Products want (and I hope they do) to get there HARD WORK out to the masses. I think it is people like me who just want to USE your Software, to have fun with watching and listen to the Entertainment Products we buy. You need to understand (from the last week on these forums, this is something that I believe is completely missing) That once we END USERS get your Software up and running and using it, we would then probably get up to speed much faster and have to take up MUCH LESS of your time asking the same questions over and over.

I myself was thinking of helping out by at least on the XP Home Edition SP3 side (which is what I am using) by writing my step by step install down of AMC/MyFilms/MediaPortal and uploading it to the forums.

But as far as I can tell on any of the forums, no one has explained to me what I do once I install MyFilms to make it work with AMC.
OR how to make MyFilms work with MedaiPortal.
Reading this you all are probably thinking what an idiot. But all I am is an END USER who wants to USE your software.

When all of you who know how and why these programs work, don't answer our questions with simple answers (they probably are simple answers, but at where I am at now in the learning curve, they just are not simple answers). It makes it VERY hard to LEARN how to use your products.

All I asked was Which product was better.

I am willing to learn. I have been on these forums now for hours everyday for about a week and still do not know hardly anything.

All I have been trying to do is install: AMC/MyFilms/MediaPortal

It seems to me someone should write 1-2 page install doc's. for those of us who want to use: AMC / MyFilms / MediaPortal on an:
PC with Windows XP Home Edition SP2/3
PC with Windows Vista
The key strokes to install ALL of these Programs is probably not more than 1-2 pages.

I am not a programmer, script writter or?
I am just an end user trying to setup a small HTPC.

I DO appreciate ALL of your Hard work and HELP, Thank You!!!!!
Just an END USER

AMC 3.5.1.0
or
Movie Cat 4.0.5
Use AMC - as MyFilms plugin has been made for AMC and not been tested with Movie Cat.

For MyFilms and MediaPortal related questions (i.e. how to set up the MyFilms plugin) this might be the wrong place here, cause these programs only make use of the AMC database file (that contains your movie collection). You will probably have to look and ask on MediaPortal forum for further information and help on these programs/plugins.

Don't blame the AMC programmers or forum users for not giving detailed help on third party software, which they don't know in detail or might not even have used ever.

Antologist,
Just for info, as you may have noticed in the license, that this program is provided "as-is" and for free.
I already provide much support/info compared to others.
One of the reasons (but not the only one) why this program is free is to not be forced to provide help for users, like what would be expected from commercial products.
I originally made this program for me and few friends, it was put on internet "in case others wanted to use it" (and it evolved a lot due to that, but still, this program is mainly made for my own use).

If people make third-party plugins or give detailed info on how to link AMC to other software, I can put that on my site for easy reference to other users. But I do not have time to search for info or to myself wrote detailed guides on things that I did not even try myself.
