[REQ] IMDB Script that searches "MyMovies".

Post by snowbound »

Hi all, particularly bad4u. I am looking for a script that will only search the "My Movies" section of IMDB, rather than the entire websites database. It seems like this would be a simple matter of editing a couple of URL's in bad4u's great script, but I am not very great with code. I guess this message would be directed at him, but if anyone else could also help I'd be appreciated. :grinking:

Oh BTW, the reason I want this, is that I use My Movies on IMDB to catalogue all of my movie collection, which is quite large now. I also use Ant to export a searchable HTML copy of all those movies on my desktop.

It is a pain when I want to add a movie to my PC databse through Ant and IMDB script comes up with a dozen different titles for the film. If for example I was to search for The Great Escape and the search was limited to My Movies, it would only respond with one result, the correct one in my IMDB catalogue. I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance!.

Thanks, but this script has not been done by me, the praise should go to antp and the other guys listed on the preferences section of the script ;)

If it is possible or not to search the mymovies part of IMDB should depend on how IMDB handles your login information. Maybe I will have a look on it some time, but as I'm not interested in registering at IMDB and I do not have time to spend on it at the moment (because of the game catalog mod), it might be better to find someone else.

Btw.. isn't it possible to export your mymovies list to a file (with movie URLs that AMC could import and use for the IMDB search list then) or isn't there some kind of URL to show the list to your friends that could be used ?

Ooops sorry to antp and the others :/ . And thanks to them also.
As far as I know there is no export software for IMDB, but you can share your list with others. I would imagine that it is just a matter of knowing where to put that URL into the IMDB script. I have no clue. Thanks for the response though. :grinking:

If you can share the list with others who are not registered users on IMDB, send me a link (via private message) and I'll have a look on it.
