how big can the database get?

i havent added cover for all my dvds yet and the database is about 30mb now...and i just wanna know how big can it get before i should start thinking of splitting my dvd collection into 2 parts

i assume the bigger it is the longer it will take to load...which doesnt bother me...i just dont want it to crash

When will the next version of ant be out?

If you prefer to keep a small file (which is recommended anyway), it is better to store covers as external files (i.e. "link" rather than "store").
There is an option for that when adding the picture manually.
For pictures added by script, you can define what to do in Tools -> Preferences -> Picture Importation.
It may be interesting to put the catalog in a dedicated folder, and store all covers in that same folder.

all the other pictures for movies that are already added...do i need to export the database first and then import it with pictures seperate from the database?

You can keep the current pictures stored in the database, but if you with to export these you can save the catalog to XML format (as that format only support external pictures; and then eventually back to AMC format) via File -> Save As.

now that all the pictures are external...i noticed it loads up alot quicker...and the *.amc file is very small

but does it mean that there's no limit to how many movies i can add?

There is no limit, except in the movie number range which must be between 1 and 2147483647. But anyway the memory would be filled before you could add so many movies, as all movie info are stored in memory
