IMDB script problem

I use AMC 3.5.0.2 (the one without installation) and I'm experienced a problem with IMDB.ifs version 3.01 (the one from http://www.antp.be/temp/scripts/): with EACH title I get an error message "No movie found" and the script stops. The other scripts (i.e. cinematografo) works fine, so I think my computer haven't connection problems.
Can someone help me? Thanks in advance

You can work around the problem by searching for the movie manually (in your internet browser) on IMDb and pasting the movie URL (for example: http://imdb.com/title/tt0431091/) in the box that pops up when you run the script ("Enter the title or the IMDb URL of the movie:").

The usual way will still work if there is one and only one match on IMDB for the movie in question. Otherwise do as Moerges suggests by searching IMDB manually, get the database's number for the movie, then entering that in the script until it's updated.

IMPORTANT: Can someone please tell me if the previous IMDB result list listed only filmtitle and year or if all "aka .. (other titles of same film)" have been listed there, too ? I don't use IMDB so I don't know this, but I need to know it for the corrections..

As far as I know "aka" were not included, but I am not very sure though that I wrote that previous script

I'd say: make the easier, and we'll see later for the extra stuff

As far as I can remember, an aka was only listed when the search keyword was found in that particular aka.

For example, a search for "Brotherhood Wolf" would yield a result with aka:

Code: Select all

Pacte des loups, Le (2001)
 aka "Brotherhood of the Wolf" - Canada (English title), USA

While a search for "Pacte loups" would get you only the original title:

Code: Select all

Pacte des loups, Le (2001)

I'm not 100% on this, but I think that's how it worked.

Thank you, but this is not what I was talking about.

What you describe is the behaviour of the website itself, not if AMC shows 'aka' titles on the result list. For 'Pacte loups' search results the 'aka' name is just missing on the website, so it's clear that AMC cannot show any 'aka' name, too.

I just wanted to know if 'aka' names have been shown on the result list, if they were on the website. But no problem anymore, I added an option 'HideAkaTitles' to the script, so you now can show or hide them, what makes the list better readable

Ah, ok - well, I think the AMC script worked the same way as IMDb - showing an aka if the keyword is found in it, not showing when it isn't.

I don't find any problems at the moment, if someone using it regularly could do some more tests, this would be nice ..

The changes I made concern the result list only. No need to change anything else on film import. Added an option for listing 'aka' titles.

Yeah. Didn't know that linking files from that webspace is not possible. I need to find some other webspace again

Did you save the script in the \scripts folder ? It can't be used from within the program's folder. If you like to, you can use the [ UPDATE SCRIPTS ] script from http://www.antp.be/temp/scripts/UPDATE_SCRIPTS.ifs , then it is possible to update scripts from within the program.

heres what I did should work for you also
open the program click on tools, click on scirpts, highlight the IMBD script, at the top of the page click the spot that says editor.

Delete from #1 all the way to the bottom

Past the updated sript in the #1 spot it will fill in al the way to the bottom, click save should work fine for you now did for me.

Since DVD Profiler extended the middle finger to `lite' version users and have stopped us from uploading and exporting, I have 950 movies to convert over to AMC. I can still export most of them into CSV format using the old program and if that's not compatible with importing into AMC -- haven't tried it yet -- reformat it with BK Replace 'em. I was thinking, would it be possible to analyse Google's IMDB specific results so that I can parse more fields (or combine them into one field) like year or director to more accurately obtain automatic results (I tried the old IMDB script a year ago for automated results, got a number of wacky films and no idea what they were originally)? I prefer Google's search feature anyway, I'm often referencing the `lucky dip' feature in Firefox's address bar and find it impeccable.

It is possible, but you do not need to copy the new script into the old one through editor. Maybe you have a read only flag on your script files then ? Or is it a problem on Vista ? Updating should be possible easily through downloading and saving the IMDB.ifs file into your \Ant Movie Catalog\Scripts\ directory. Or use [ Update Scripts ], it does the same for you.
