wrong csv import in Antmoviecatalog

Post by dankon7goo »

Hi There!!

First: you did hell of a good job!! Thanks again for this really nice Program.

Unfortunately i got problems when i try to import from csv.
The .csv file is generated in excel.
and as far as i can see its in right format!
... Problem: when i import an movie with a cell that contains quite a lot text (f.instance 400 Words) the text is divided in three new Lines that only contain one Column of Description: the other columns are blank.

Seems like there is a "limit" in characters per DB-cell linked to .csv format??

My english is bad... So i show it with an example:
I import three movies, and 7 lines are generated...
1 line for each of the three movies (with about 12 columns like time, size etc)
PLUS 4 additional Lines that contain only the text of one of the movies which was positioned in the column named detailed description.

How can i evade that long descriptions in columns create a new line?

Thank you that much,
Daniel from Germnay

Hi,
You mean that Excel inserts linenbreaks in the middle of a field in the CSV file? That is not very standard I think, as the CSV file is supposed to have one line per record.
Can you copy/paste in the forum an example?
You may try with the version 3.5.1 as I rewrote the CSV importation, but if it is a problem of multiline description it won't work better I think:
viewtopic.php?t=3325
Though I may try to find a solution for that.
