custom fields? # field as text?

Post by jcmuse »

hi,

i am currently using excel to catalogue my 1000+ DVDs. i have imdb #s for every single one and info imported for them via macros (which no longer works due to imdb html changes). I want to switch to AMC but am having some issues.

first, i have a field what i call "Code" this is an inventory system that helps me keep track of my movies. every _disk_ is assigned a numerical code. If a title has two disks, it has two codes, e.g. 1024, 1025. The number field which shows conveniently next to the title in AMC will only take a single number. Is there any way to make up a custom field that will display there or possibly force AMC to take my code in the # field as text?

thats pretty much it. I figured out i can just modify my current list so that when i import into AMC, i can set the "Title" to equal the imdb URL (since i already have it) and then just run the script and reimport all the info. if i can't import my codes though, AMC won't work for me :S

THX!

Hi,
There is a "media label" field that was made for custom number, but unfortunately in the current version there is no option to use that field as main number.
If a movie is on two disks, actually it was supposed to be as one entry in AMC, but if you assign a number to each disc then the only sugestion that I could do it either skip number, or put the multiple numbers in that "media label" field.
I do not really see what you mean on the last point, why repimporting all info?
