example:
you have 250 video cassettes (VHS)
150 DVD
and 30 CD-ROMs (divx/VCD)
you physically store them in different locations most of the time, albeit close together. Yet, when numbering them, you'll number the tapes, DVDs and CD-ROMs separately.
I did this as follows:
Tapes: T-0001 - T-0250
DVDs: D-0001 - D-0150
CD-Roms: C-0001- C-030
That way I find stuff fast and also see at a glance where stuff is missing (loaned out) or put back in the shelf at the wrong place.
Now, Ant Collector lets me put in labels for media, yes, but it has only one autonumber field and I was wondering if it would be possible to have an additional more flexible autonumbering field/scheme (like in CATVids) since this would really help catalog different media effectively.
Also, most of the tapes contain 2 or more movies either in SP or LP, i.e. it would be neccessary to create SUBSETS with the same "Label Number", e.g.
T-0010/1 Movie1
T-0010/2 Movie2
etc.
Is something like this planned?
Cheers
Alex.
numbering of entries
For the moment it is not planned.
Next version will probably keep an unique integer number as key, but you'll be able to hide it and to use a custom label/number in the main list (i.e. select with columns have to be shown in the list).
For the autonumber of these custom labels, it may be interesting, but it is not one of the thing that I really have to put in then 4.0 version.
