my movies are in microsoft excel format, I converted the file from xls to xml but wen I try to open it I recive an error message: "cannot identify file from header" ... any suggestion?

The only XML file supported is the format made by AMC itself.
You have to save your XLS file to CSV (with Excel) and then import this CSV file with AMC.
