How To Program/Create a Script

Hi everyone, it's a little I don't write and I apologize.
I was trying to understand by looking at the "" MyAnimeList "script (which is still at version 1.6 of 2010) how the scripts are written and what language they use..but I couldn't figure it out.
Can anyone explain to me how the scripts are designed and if there is a guide to explain it ??
