If I use XML for an Android device do I also need .AMC?

Am I correct in assuming that if I'm going to transfer the data to an Android Tablet which requires the database saved as a XML file, then I should just used XML & never save to the .amc file extension? Do I need the file with both extensions or not?

Thanks in advance

You could indeed use only the XML file as main database and not use the .amc anymore.
The only downside of that format is that the files aren't stored in it (but as separate external image files), but then it gives much better performances (as the whole file is read/written each time).

I'll delete the .amc file just to avoid confusion. Thanks again.

I happened to look at the location where the catalog data was stored & was surprised to see that while there are a few individual picture displayed separately most are stored within one folder .xml pictures.

I had the impression that each photo had to be kept separately but this is much setter. Can I just drag the strays into the main folder & then update my tablet again?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

You should use AMC > Tools > Manage pictures and select "Copy picture to pictures folder of catalog, and link it to catalog" to have all pictures in pictures folder and keep valid links.

Also, you should take a look in Preferences > Picture importation and select "Copy picture to pictures folder of catalog, and link it to catalog" for movie pictures and extra pictures to import new pictures directly in pictures folder.

PG, a question, how do you use the xml database on your tablet? I just posted in the suggestions forum asking if it were possible to make an app for viewing the database (having just rented 2 movies I already had).
