Template for dynamic web page view v3.0 - Testers required
Posted: 2010-12-26 16:15:26
I have issued now the official version 3 and removed the test version
I have been working on a new version of my dynamic template and made some additions which require more testing before going official.
Let me start with stating what is new in version 3:
• Possibility to play files locally on your PC (Internet Explorer only)
• Possibility to start playing files remotely on Dune media player
• New field in settings to select desired player
• Player settings section in ‘locale.xml’ file
• Frameless design using CSS styles, single HTML file
• Support of displaying content on mobile phones (auto detection)
• Header translations in ‘locale.xml’ (no more need to edit source HTML file)
• Remote control for Dune media player
• Updated video and audio images
• Large and small flag sizes included
• Updated layout files to reflect new possibilities (not compatible with v2)
• Latest versions of 3D scripts from Christian Effenberger included
Specially for the newly introduced "play" and "mobile" functions I like to get some feedback.
I own a Dune media player and I have set up the web page as such that I can make a film selection from either my laptop of smartphone (android) to play on my tv screen.
Another feature I introduced to my family members is the ability to play a movie locally on their PC. Each of my kids can go to the web site, select their movie of choice and play it on their own computer. All this is possible because my film collection is kept on a NAS server.
The instructions how to do all this can be found in the help folder. For convenience sake I have included the original help file as well, but if you are not familiar with my template it could be all quite challenging
Let me know if the explanations make sense and you are able to get playback up and running, either on your PC or - if you own one - Dune media player (it does require the latest test firmware, which is not officially released yet but available nevertheless).
For those trying mobile phones, it might require to change the browser settings on your phone. In my case I needed to enable "mobile view" to get things working.
The test version can be downloaded <see official version>
And a preview is available <see official version>
Btw for the paranoid: the play function is restricted to a local home network only.
