Questions: BD, Fields, Reports and Tags

Hello!

I have some questions. The database has corrupted AMC ever? What is the maximum size that the bank can grow?
I ask this because the software used Data Crow and I lost a db (the backups have bugs).
I can do queries through SQL? How? The results of the AMC are not grouped. You must click Next, Next, Next ...
I would like to put a field for tags and when researched the results came in an HTML report.
I can connect with another database? E.g. Postgres or Firebird

I'm sorry so many questions. But I really want to keep this software!

Abraços!

Hi,
It is not really a database, it is just a file of proprietary format. So there can't be requests on it using standard SQL tools.
You can also use XML to store the catalog.
Some people already had corruption problems on files, but I could never reproduce the problem. I suppose that it happens on big files. There is no real limit but as the whole file is read/write at each load/save it is better to keep images as external files if they are big or if there are lots of them, so the database does not get bigger than few megabytes.

I'm an entusiastic user of Ant Movie Catalog and I can say to Anaccristina that AMC, even with its old-fashion style (excuse me, antp), is really the best movies, books, comics, musics, games catalogue.
My catalog is composed of about 6.000 of them (with internal images), using more than 300MB, and I never had problems (Obviously, almost every sunday, 'not knowing how to write nor to read' (as we say in Italy), from time to time i save my catalog on a CD :hihi:)

But there are great (and I think unique) featureS in AMC: You can:
- write scripts and normalize your .amc fileds catalog,
- export to Excel (using csv format), HTML, XML (and reimport after your corrections),
- use scripts to extract informations from a lot of sites
- write scripts to extract informations from another lot of sites (and if you aren't able, maybe someone could help you)....

it's really an (almost) open source program.

At the End: AMC is not perfect (excuse me again, antp) but it's the best.
:grinking:

Boys, thank you very much!

I decided that will make my catalog with AMC. I tested several programs, but I think AMC is it that back better cost benefit. I will use external images for not taking a risk a corruption.
Ah on the search, I had not paid attention! There is yes the way to come only the intended results ("Display Results"). Now only I have to choose a field to use as field of TAGS.

Once again: Thank you for the attention!

Abraços!
