Although this Q is not directly related to "Ant Movie Catalog" it is indirectly related to said program.

I just purchased a new "Western Digital 1TB USB External Hard Drive" for storing my avi movie files and need some extra protection for said files.

How can i add extra protection to my movie files (LOCK) to prevent them from being accedently erased?

If it is in NTFS, in properties of the file, in security tab, you can remove some rights on the file, but this is not available on XP Home I think (I case you have that one)

When I read user comments on amazon etc. about 1GB external hdds, it seems more probably to lose your movies because of a hardware defect than accidently deleting them
