More Feature Suggestions...

Post by ChrisNutting »

Hey... First off, gret program, gets 10/10 for features and 10/10 for ease-of-use :)

I just decided to upgrade from 3.4.2 to 3.5.0.2... upgrade went flawlessly, I noticed that the IMDB script now has a lot more options, so I decided to batch process and upgrade all the contents of my catalog...

The batch processing worked great, I have a few suggestions though..

1) When batch processing it would be handy if the "current" movie was loaded in the main screen... otherwise it's hard to know exactly which movie you're upgrading

2) The movie name entry box should have a "Don't ask if not empty" checkbox... upgrading 200+ movies took a while because I couldn't just leave it to run, I had to confirm the movie title for every movie.

3) If there's a connection error or timeout, there should be a "retry" button, all it has currently is a warning box and an "OK" button, I had a couple of timeouts while mass-updating, I had to note down the movie and go back through those.

A couple of other non-batch suggestions... on the export script options how about a "Run this file/command after export"... I wrote a batch file that: Takes the exported SQL, updates my MySQL database, converts the database to CSV, converts the CSV file into HandBase3 format, and sets the updated database to upload to my Palm Pilot next sync...
The only way I can force this to run on export is to associate SQL files with this batch file...

Thanks :)

1) it has already been reported as a problem. I should at least mention somewhere the current title of the movie that is updated.
2) strange that the script does not offer an option for that actually. It could be modified easily, you can also do it by editing directly the script. But I guess that now you have finished with your list?
3) handling http errors is not very easy in that case, I know it has to be improved.

Exportation window has to be really improved too. So many things to do :/ :D

Hey, thanks for the quick response

1) Not a huge issue, (well until 2 is fixed :))
2) I didn't realise that that was scriptable... FYI I was using the IMDB script (2.05) That script was what prompted me to upgrade, since the get image function was broken in the old script too
3) Ah well

As for the exportation window "Run command" the associating SQL files workaround works for me
