renumbering does not work

I have about 300 movies in AMC 3.5.0 and when I added new titles in the catalog I tryed to renumber but some movies added for the last get the smallest number e.g. movie added as 286 gets the number 9 
or movie added as 191 keeps the same number, no mather that it should get a number 29 (in alphabetical order of the original title)
BTW AMC is great, I am using it for ower a year, and keep going Antoine
