Well the title says it all the idea is to export your whole moviedatabase to your own locally stored imdb database by simply cloning the interface and the features it has and making them availible for your own personal moviedb. Why? because it's well known to everyone so everbody knows what to find where, because it's a great database and it's gives the idea that u have a massive collection hihi: How cool would that be.

About the legal issues. As long as you keep it offline and for personal us i don't think there is any. furthermore i don't think this request is focused towards the creator of amc but rather to someone who can work with php right? U just need to grab the data from the SQL database.

So remember this is only but a dream and i believe it can come true if the community (you the reader) responds to this msg. (cool or uncool) and if some dev. digs my idea :hihi:
If i could code i would've done it myself but the mighty lord gave me another talent :hum:

PS:

There is not access to IMDB's database directly. AMC uses the public webpages of the site for that.
And I am not sure than downloading the gigabytes of data that are on their site would make them happy :p
If you want a local IMDB you could check this: http://www.steffensiebert.de/amdb/

I think u misunderstood yes i want a local internet moviedatabase but it should have "only" my database movies in them not the whole imdb.

here's an example just image you export your database to sql together with the interface and the features of imdb mimiced. So it's only a hacked version of the interface and features. so the imdb interface becomes a template ;)

To do this u got 2 options
or you export your database to and sql db and you make it in php.

or you make an application that is able to read the *.amc file and pretends it's the imdb website.

I think the second option is the most secure for legal issues because it holds no ability to place this mimiced imdb site online.

OK I see what you mean ;) Well, that's "simply" making a php (or other) site that uses either the amc or xml file, or a database created with amc's sql export. It is probably not so difficult to do, but finding somebody that would do it will be much more difficult :D

Nice idea... I might do that once I finished my php5 template. I Should be able to re-use major parts. Plus one could include some move related news feed...
