Setting opening display rule

The first thing I have ever done when opening the catalog is click on 'display results' in the search bar, which shows me my entire catalog. I haven't found any other way to show the entire catalog. However I would like for that box to be checked when I open, instead of havign to check it myself each time.
I checked through the default.xml and prefs.xml files but could find no way to make that appear checked on open, so is it possible to do this and if so how please?

It is strange, I don't really wee why you would have to enable that to see the list.
Can you make a screenshot of how it is at startup, and how it is after you check that option? Maybe there is some other option enabled/disabled that I don't think of that may explain that.
Or the only other idea I have is some display glitch related to the display driver and Windows 10 (as sometimes these older programs have issues with new versions of Windows).

I'm sorry, it's not the entire list I can't see, it's the search list.
My bad.
I just refer to the display results check box, I type in a name and it's the search list that does not come up without the box checked.
I'd like the search list 'display results' box to be checked by default.

Actually there is a way, by tweaking the translation file.
Go in the "Languages" folder, open the translation file that you use in Notepad (or open English.lng if you kept English) and search for the line starting by
ActionFindDisplay.Caption
After that one add this line:
Save and restart AMC.
If you used English, go to Tools->Languages and select "English for translations".
