425 movies limit?

Post by ludewigs »

Hi,

I'm stuck with a 425 limit per catalog. If I add a new one, it adds normally, but if I save, close and reopen it, it's back with 425.

using version 3.4.3 and my disk is not full.

Thanks,
Cassio

The program has a limitation in the movie number that has to be between 0 à 32767, but that's all.

same problem but 205 movie limit

I have a similar problem with a 205 movie limit. Sometimes I can add a movie and it will show it until I exit the program. Other times they won't show up in the list at all. Have resorted, renumbered and a few other things. Can't get more than 205 movies. Otherwise the software is wonderful. The print designer lets me customize and print my movie descriptions exactly the way I want to.

That's very strange...
Do you have very large pictures ? Did you try to save to XML ? (this will put pictures in separate files, so the catalog will be less heavy to load)

u da man antp. Thanks much for your reply. I hadn't noticed the xml save as option. I was messing around too much with import and export. Once I switched to xml it is working fine. Wasn't a problem with pictures and size since I am not using pictures.

I owe you a donation.

Thanks.

That's strange that there was a problem then, if you did not use pictures.
Well, that's nice if it works now.
Do not forget to save sometimes your catalog somewhere else (to keep a backup copy) in the case there is a problem ;)

Hi. I find a problem with the limit of 32767. Obviously I don´t have that much stuff, but I prefer to ordenate my films in a way that allows me to introduce new movies between old ones without renumbering. For example, the nature docs start in 200 and the historical docs in 300, I can introduce one hundred documentaries about history until the system fails, but when I have a serie, like "The world at war", with 26 episodes, I try not to fill too fast the hundred "slots" by making the numeration like this: 30001, 30002,... 30026. The problem is that wiht the limit of 32767, I can make only three categories.
If that particular limit is a sort of "whim", I suggest to elevate it .

Thanks and excuse my horrible English. :-)
