About next version (4.0) and new fields for movies...
A few more features
Love the app .... I was trying to make somthing like this in VB but since I found this app... dropped my own project.
Pardon me if this was already mentioned, but:
I would really like to see a search utility that can search specified (multiple) directories for media and import them if they aren't already in the movie database.
I suppose a field with the source file locations would needed to go along with that.
While I'm thinking of it, it would be nice to be able to click on the picture or file name and have it play the files or have an option to play a playlist instead.
Thanxs

Just a couple of suggestions
I know this is getting pretty annoying by now, and I've read the beggining of the thread. All fields that have allready been added work just fine for me. Just two more would be great - quotes and trivia. That's all!
Needless to say, can't wait for AMC4!!
Or at least for some screenshots!

fields
what I'd like to see is a few (3-10) fields that have the link to other files. For many of my movies I have nfo's, srt's, sample avi's, additional pictures, and trailers. Instead of having to look for those files in explorer it would be nice to have the fields so that you can find the subtitles or trailers by looking in that catalog. I would also like to see a field where you can edit the link to the picture rather than in the current version where you have to find the image with explorer to link it.
Even if you abandon this project after this last release it would be nice to see this web page stay a live with the latest news of new revisions, templates and additional information and updates that are likely to occur if you release the source code.
Thanks a lot for all the work you poured into this project. Much appreciated!

a few suggestions
Here are a few suggestions I've been thinking of.
1. Scripts by language. Would be cool if different scripts could be categorized by language. English, French, ect. Instead of one big list with a bunch of foreign language scripts you may never use. That way you can just pick the language(s) you want to use and it would only show you scripts for those.
2. Tabbed interface. Instead of opening to the movie list the program could open to a welcome page which lists quick stats like "total movies(all media types) ", "total DVD's", "total VCD's", "total running time(all movies)" "Most popular loaned movies", "recent additions to the database" ect.
It could also have quick search boxes like: "find movie by title" "find movie by ID number", "Find movies by genre", "find movies by actor", "find movies by director", ect.
Then the first tab up top would be "overview" which would take you to this welcome page. The second tab would be "Movies" which would take you to your movie list where you can edit your movies (the default way AMC opens right now). The third tab would be "Loans" which would take you to a page that shows which films were loaned out, by who, when they were loaned, when they are due for return. Also allow you to then check out movies. Reserve movies for loan.
Heck if you really wanted to make the loan part powerful enough you could probably run a smaller video rental store with it. Where you could enter information for everyone you loan to, like their name, address, telephone number. And then their profile would list overdue fees (if any money were involved), current movies loaned to them, all past films loaned to them, a field for which films were damaged by them and how bad (i.e. average wear, ripped box, scratches, lost disc, damaged and needs replacement). Though I doubt anyone would do that. It would still be cool to have and make record keeping a snap.
3. Friends sync. This one is lofty but I think a cool idea. It could be the forth tab called "friends". It would allow you to sync up to your other friends movies lists and see what they have and possibly reserve movies for a certain date. Post comments about each film they have in their collection. Copy information for movies they have to your list. I don't know how it could all sync up. Possibly through a mySQL database one friend could keep on a website then the group of frineds could use it.
If that was the case the welcome page could also list new movies your friends have, current reserved movies of yours, ect.

Anyway these are just a few suggestions for the fun of it.

1. Yes, it would be quite useful
2. This may look nice, but since I do not find that useful I am not sure that I would do it myself
I'll probably make something make the search window smaller and easier to use.
About a loan tab, this could be a good solution to remove the Loans window and integrate it to the main window...
3. Some people asked a "compare" feature between two catalog files. I do not know yet if I'll do that and how.

Hi again...
Just popping by to ask hows the AMC 4 development going?
Is there any time estimates on when would see some version of it?
Cheers...!

I did not work on it since past two months
I could give an exe of current state but I do not know if it would be useful or not.
Two new screenshot that I posted on another topic :
This one is a more recent version of the one already posted in a previous page
There is still a 1-pixel white line around picture window and movie list window, I cannot get rid of it
This one is the "Fields layout" tab of the window also already posted, but I changed the appearance of the tabs

Why not make this project open source? maybe there could be some people that could help you out with this?
Just an idea...
