movie length = 0

Post by rs232 »

For some of the files I have, media import in not able to import all the media details e.g. length sometime is 0. i guess this is a codec problem...

e.g. this format is not properly imported into AMC:

Did you try to update the DLL? Maybe the one provided with AMC is too old?

Or/And maybe you use internal engine (for AVI files) instead of MediaInfo.dll ?
You can change this in options.

yes I can confirm that disabling the internal engine for AVI actually works!

one question, how do I check/update to the latest DLL any ways? I'm running AMC 4.11 so i thought the latest DLL is installed with it but perhaps not?

Thanks

You can find the file MediaInfo.dll in program folder (Program Files > Ant Movie Calatog).
If you want to replace it with the last version, you can download it on: http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/

FYI
I've just leant that as far as AMC is concern you ALWAYS have to use mediainfo 32 bit.
I did use 64 bit for a bit and run into lot of problems.

Indeed the 32/64-bit choice depends on the exe which uses it, and AMC is a 32-bit application ;)

I almost put a new thread about the same problem :)

After I reinstall the system, identifying of the type of video and audio is not done correctly in the AMC. I did not know what caused it. I read your advice in this thread, turned off the internal manager and now everything works (at least that's how it seems for now). But...

Can somebody please answer the following:

- What should I do to internal engine again works well?
Obviously it's possible, because before i reinstall OS everything was fine.

- How to replace MediaInfo.dll which operates within the AMC? As I understand it - download the MediaInfo software, install it and then copy the new mediainfo.dll from the installation folder to folder Ant movie catalog? Is this correct?

Thanks in advance!

To update mediainfo indeed you just have to pick the new dll (32 bit) from the official site and replace the old one in AMC folder.

I may be wrong in something, but after I took the dll from the site and installed it in the AMC folder is no longer possible to import the data of the file.

32 bit DLL v0.7.61 (without installer)

I tested the XP/Vista/7/8 and 95~2000 versions and both seem to work for me... try maybe the 95~2000 version then if you tested the other one.
I do not know what they changed there, what is the difference between these two versions.

It seems to me that we do not understand.

I download the file - although it is alleged without installer, it comes as an .exe and I install it in AMC folder.

After that, file importing don't work. When i put back "AMC original" MediaInfo.dll everything works fine.

Moreover, if anyone knows and has time to explain, I'd like to hear the answer to the question
- What should I do to internal engine again works well?
Obviously it's possible, because before i reinstall OS everything was fine.

which exe? It is a 7z file containing just a dll :??:
On http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Windows I took the dll without installer, i.e. http://mediaarea.net/download/binary/li ... staller.7z or http://mediaarea.net/download/binary/li ... staller.7z and replaced the original mediainfo.dll by that one.

Internal engine only handles .avi, but if it does not work I do not know what could cause that... It only relies on the "codecs.ini" file which should be in AMC folder, and reads the header of the avi file. Nothing special is involved in the OS.

I took the file from the link that you gave and everything went well.

But I still can't notice the same file on a website that I visited :/

In any case, I was able to do what I wanted. Thank you!

You have to click on the small words '(without installer)' for the correct link, which is right behind the DLL v.0.7.61 link. ;)

Now that I finally saw the real link.

I thought the whole time that the label in the brackets is actually only explanation for the link in front of it :badidea:

Thanks!
