i tried with link as raoul_volfoni said (thanks to you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!):
sdcard/external_sd/liste/DVDTHEQUE.xml
all is fine now !!!
except that i do not have all my dvd. i have a collection of more than 1000 ref and it download only a part.
can somebody explain now the way to be able to download it all ??
i ve seen that soulsnake sent a script but i do not know how to use it
sorry again but i will need help !!!
When you start the app, does it always try to import movies and fails at certain movie? If so, then there is problem with special characters. Download script mentioned above, place it into Scripts folder and run in AMC. Then repeat export and try it again on your device.

script / export xml for pocket amc reader.

Post by pele »

Hi,

I was wondering if there is someone who can help me

To prevent to copy a large xml file and a lot of jpg files to my phone (i don't have left much gb's on my sd card)i was wondering if there is a script to select only the unchecked = in my case movies no seen with the pictures.
So i have left a small xml file and a few jpg's to copy.

Thanks,
Bianca

Hi,

I'm not sure if there's an easy way to do it. Three things come to my mind:
1. Save your catalog to temporary one and delete all seen movies. Then copy it to your mobile.
2. Leave catalog as is and export pictures only for unseen movies. You can do that via selected or visible movies.
3. Pocket AMC Reader doesn't need pictures, so another option might be skip pictures altogether.

Also after your catalog is imported, you can delete XML file. Pocket AMC Reader uses its own database which is actually saved to your device and can't be moved to a SD card.

To sum up all storage needs:
App - about 300 KB, can be moved from phone to SD
Data - about size of the XML, must be in phone
XML - size of XML, must be on SD, but can be deleted after import
Pictures - size of pictures, must be on SD, but pictures are optional
Cache - about 5 kb per picture, defaulted to SD, but if SD is not available it's stored in phone

Hope any of it helps.

Hi, I already though about it and did some analysis, however this seems to be quite complicated considering app's current design. I'm not saying no, but I really don't know if I'm going to have enough time to do it properly. :??:

What I do plan to implement are color tags a you can expect them in next release.

Hi elman,

Where I can find the source code of the app? Google play description says it's open source.

Thanks.

Big xml file 12.8MB and over 3200 movies!

Post by humbug12 »

What an amazing feat to get your Pocket AMC pgm working on Android! Fantastic!

I was also amazed that my HTC Desire was able to load the data as that smartphone has very little free memory - it complains a little, though :-)

I don't get any pictures, but I don't really care. Next time, I'll export without pictures.

If I may make a feature request when exporting the XML file...
I would like to get a list of fields which I want to be exported. Also, I would like to save that list using my chosen listname to use another time. I don't know if there may be a reason to save more than one list with different fields, e.g. when exporting to an Android tablet where there is more display real estate and maybe more memory, then I may want to see more fields on that device.

AMC is wonderful!

Hi, thanks and I'm glad you like the app :)

There is no difference if you exported with or without pictures. If you won't copy them to your phone, simply go to settings and disable "show thumbnails". App then won't try to load pictures no matter what.

As to mention your request about exports, I would move it to section for Ant Movie Catalog (viewtopic.php?t=4844) at that is the application which actually makes exports :) Anyhow, the smaller XML the less space on your phone is required, so it makes sense not to export comments for example. But still your tablet will display exactly the same info as your phone. So no difference there since app has only one layout for all Android devices.

perfect app, I have the database stored in dropbox so I have it always synced but I miss a simple feature:
- change/edit the seen/unseen check

is it posible? Or will it be?

Thanx & keep up the good work

Thanks a lot, appreciate it.

Well this might be tricky because:
- The app is designed as reader, so I had no plans for editing catalogs.
- After importing XML I do not work with it anymore. So you can delete it from phone and it matters not.
- I don't load custom fields, so they would be lost after making export from mobile.
- Original XML is not valid (I do some fixing during import) and I'm not sure if I would able to create invalid XML. Even if I would be able, XML would be different from the one created by PC application.

What I did consider was to create some kind of list where you could temporary store movies. Let's say if you are on vacation and you watch some movies, you could add them to the list on your phone and when you would be back home, you could modify the catalog on your PC. Would that be something that interests you?

OK, it's already in to do list so I will make it higher priority.

It depends on what are the invalid parts. The program isn't very strict for reading the XML file, so it may work.

Well if I can remember correctly, encoding is always set to iso-8859-1 although I personally use iso-8859-2 and then there's the issue with extended characters not encoded at all.

Actually the file is written with Windows' current charset, so for western europe it would be windows-1252 charset, for example. The encoding field value is not set automatically to the right value: it has to be defined manually in file properties (I should have done that automatically though)

Hmm... didn't know, that but for Windows Mobile version I had to set input stream windows-1252 otherwise it wouldn't work at all. Anyway I'm very hesitant about writing compatible XML file since from the beginning I was aiming only for "reader". Thou I might implement that list I was talking about earlier.
