Sorry, I really wanted this script to work, because I'm having a heck of a time finding this title, but ...

The Monty Python's Complete 16 Ton Megaset is found in The All Movie Guide (here), but it doesn't appear that the script finds it. The All Movie page is http://www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=16:78154.

Have I overlooked the obvious?

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

it's "normal" because actually the script only treat the movie part, not the DVD one.
If the search engine leads me to the DVD tab, I switch to the movie tab, and that's why you don't find this title in the list (it's not a bug, it's a feature :hihi: )

If it's important to treat the DVD's, I can add an option to the script.
Tell me... ;)

It took me a long time to recognize what you were talking about (my fault, not yours ... I had to search again for another title to see the tabs that you referenced; the Megaset page I referenced had different tabs!) ... it appears that "Monty Python's 16 Ton Megaset" only appears on the DVD tab and not on either the Name nor Movie tab!

If adding an option (or options) to the script so that more than the Movie tab could be searched is not too much trouble, it would be greatly appreciated!

Having not used allmovie.com before, it looks like a great resource!

Thanks for your consideration!

Hi everybody,
I haven't forgotten you, but I was a little busy these days...

So, back to the DVD stuff.
of course, I can add an option like:
InfoType: 0=only movies; 1=movies or DVD's (note that it is OR , not AND (=what the search engine returns) and 2=only DVD's

As with all mods, the "hardest" thing is to determine where to put the infos.
In the main page of a DVD, you can have different parts: I have seen 'Description', 'Features', 'See also' (no interest): may be these can be put in the description field of amc.
There's also 2 tabs:
'chapters': may be in the Actors field
'Menu options': may be put in comments
And some infos for video & sound (formats, languages, subtitles...)
So, before I can release something, I need your opinions about what you want to have and where...

Waiting for feedback

scorpion7552,

I'm very sorry for not replying sooner ... it's been a heck of a way to end the year (no, I'd prefer not to talk about it, thank you very much ... let's just say I hope this year ends better than last year!). :/

I'm not in front of the PC that's running AMC, so I'll need an additional day or two to check the AMC layout, but the InfoType option of Movie only, Movies or DVDs and DVD only is a great place to start.

Be back soon ... (really!)

hi, man
I'm sorry to hear such bad news and I wish you all the best for this new year (is this the good way to say that, because you know, I'm only a Frenchy :hihi:) and of course to all the amc's lovers...

But don't worry, take your time and when you will be ready, I'll be there.

A bientôt (as we say in French)

scorpion7552,

I'm back (finally!) ... sorry for the delay ...

Looking at allmovies.com this morning, and considering that we're talking about multi-disc collections, I think that just a general overview regarding the collection would work best.

My thoughts: have the allmovie Overview tab/field be displayed in the AMC Description field; have the allmovie Chapters tab/field be displayed in the AMC Comments field; retrieve the proper collection title for the AMC Original Title field; capture whatever other AMC fields are available (i.e. Director, Producer, Country, etc.).

Would it make any sense (or be easier to code) to have a separate script for allmovie collections, as opposed to having an option within the allmovie script?

The content of the AMC Description and Comments field could be very long, depending on the content at allmovie.com, and it would then be up to the user to edit those AMC fields.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you should have any questions. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.

Hi rgm,
glad to see you back ;)

So to summarize your wishes for DVD's infos:
- original title: the full name of the collection
- Description: all that comes in the 'Overview tab' except the 'See also' one (really no interest there...)
- Comments: the chapters
- and the usual fields: country, category, rating,... note that the Director field is in fact the Studio
- and nothing about menus and video/audio infos

Am I right ? Confirm that and I'll send the new script very soon.
Would it make any sense (or be easier to code) to have a separate script for allmovie collections, as opposed to having an option within the allmovie script?
No, I prefer the option because the main program is the same; there's only some 'if then else' statements here and there...

Yes, you are right. Users can always delete what they want in the amc's fields...

You are right on the mark ... this is just what I was thinking!

scorpion7552,

You are the man!! :grinking:

Added Monty Python Megaset, two Alfred Hitchcock collections and Alien Quadrilogy this evening ... your script works like a charm! Just what I was looking for ... now I can house these type of collections in multi-cases and have a proper cover in the DVD slipcase!

Thanks again!

I've a few more collections to add ... I'll let you know if I run across any problems (doubt it!). :D
